"As for the issue of extradition of Mikheil Saakashvili in Georgia. Here he has a weak political backing. We are not interested politically in whether Saakashvili will be in Georgia or Ukraine. In our country the trial was held against him. There is a court decision, which means that if Saakashvili is deported to Georgia, he will be arrested, "said Irakli Kobakhidze.
The Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia spoke about the relations between Georgia and Russia at Johns Hopkins University.
"Our policy towards Russia is pragmatic, peaceful and patient. This political course is very different from the previous government"s course, which was quite aggressive and we believe that such aggressive politics did not bring positive results. Georgia is the leader in the fight against corruption in the region. This process started during the previous government. We do not like the previous government, but there are some issues in which we recognize the achievements of the previous ruling party, "Kobakhidze said.
