Parliament adopted a new bill on labor safety with the second reading. According to the new edition, the amount of sanctions increased for those enterprises that violate the labor safety standards.

According to the amendments, the powers of the labor inspector are also increased. Today"s meeting was attended by business associations and trade union representatives.

Both sides have comments regarding the draft law.

Nika Nanuashvili, chairman of the Georgian Business Association notes that an effective system vannot be received by introducing penalties and sanctions .

Irakli Petriashvili, chairman of the Georgian Trade Unions Union, said that the representatives of specific business should feel financial responsibility because in some cases the law is ignored.

"The essence of fines and sanctions is just to motivate our businesses to protect human life and health," Akaki Zoidze said.
