"The Prime Minister"s Statement" - NGOs respond to Kvirikashvili"s criticism of lifetime appointment of judges

Non-governmental organizations respond to the statement made by the Prime Minister of Georgia concerning the lifetime appointment of judges by the High Council of Justice.

The civil sector claims the statement is incomprehensible.

NGOs claim that the government had information about the problem in the Council of Justice; In addition, the judge named by the Prime Minister is not the only one whose work has shown signs of serious question.

" Prime Minister"s statement is confusing because this particular judge is not the first to discuss certain questions. Several judges have already been appointed in the system whose reputation and professional activity has raised question marks by signs in the public and then the government always said that they will not intervene in the judiciary and in the activities of the High Council of Justice, "- said Giorgi Beraia, a representative of IDFI.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili spoke about the questions in the ruling team regarding several judges in the statement made at the end of the day. Among them was Judge Manuchar Kapanadze, who considered Sulkhan Molashvili"s case. According to the PM, it is necessary to answer the existing questions publicly.
