The European Union is concerned about the death of Georgian citizen Archil Tatunashvili in Tskhinvali prison.
The statement posted on the website of the Foreign Service Department says that recent developments in South Ossetia in Georgia, particularly the tragic death of Archil Tatunashvili, are a serious concern.
The document states that the organization is ready to facilitate the ongoing investigation through the monitoring mission.
The EU demands from the so-called occupant Tskhinvali releaseof two Georgian citizens from prison and their immediate transfer to the territory controlled by Tbilisi.
"The EU strongly supports Georgia"s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders," the statement reads.
