Attack on "Rustavi 2" - detained members of the so called "Georgian Marsh" charged with assault on journalists were sentenced to preliminary detention.

The defendants said the prayer "Our Father " before the trial. After the end of the prayer one of the leaders of the "Georgian Marsh" and one of the accused on attack on "Rustavi 2", Lado Sadgobelashvili tried to convince the judge why he should not use the pretrial detention.

Investigation charges the members of the called "Georgian Mars" with planned group hooliganism, damaging the victim"s property and harassing them. The defense side believes that, illegal deprivation of freedom in the car of Giorgi Gabunia and TV lawyer Tamta Muradashvili , as well as the physical abuse of journalist David Eradze by the activists of the organization was a peaceful demonstration.

Sandro Bregadze, the leader of "Georgian Marsh", appeared at today"s trial and gave testimony on Rustavi 2 TV case after 24 hours spent in the hospital.
The consideration on merits of the case of the "Georgian Marsh" activists will continue on May 8. Investigation on Rustavi 2"s case continues and it is not ruled out that the case on attack on the employees of the TV company will be initiated against other members of the organization.
