The Chairman of the City Council and the Symbolic Commission made a statement about possible change of name of the Rose Revolution Square.

Tinatin Niblovashvili explains the reasons for the change and says that, due to the importance of the square, the name should be changed.

According to her, the change of name is not related to the political context.
Irakli Nadiradze, chairperson of the Tbilisi Sakrebulo faction "United National Movement" states that the Rose Revolution was the achievement of the Georgian people.

"It was a day when Georgian people won over corruption, criminals, nepotism and the swamp that had been in Shevardnadze"s regime, so they do not have any national motives," said Irakli Nadiradze.

The Chairman of the Tbilisi Sakrebulo Faction "European Georgia - Tbilisi" has evaluated the possible changes.

"This is a very cheap move, it"s a very cheap attempt to win the support of loyal supporters and the complete neglect of the will of the whole Georgia," -Giorgi Gabashvili said.

According to the procedure, from the initiation of the issue, within 20 days, a public meeting of the names and symbols commission should be held. After that, the issue will be moved to the Sakrebulo session and they will vote for it.
