"Prosecutor"s Office bargaining with ruling political force" - Civil Sector Requests Suspension of Prosecutor Selection Process

The NGO Coalition for "Independent and Transparent Judiciary" speaks about the need to stop the process of selection of the Chief Prosecutor.

Civil society representatives will present their opinions and arguments today.

They explain that the appointment of the Chief Prosecutor without a participation in the selection of the civil sector is not legitimate.

Applications of candidates for the position of the Chief Prosecutor will be completed tomorrow. Fifteen people have expressed their wish to hold the post.

Most realistic from them is Bidzina Ivanishvili"s personal lawyer, Shalva Tadumadze, who already has full support of the ruling party.

Tadumadze"s candidacy is unacceptable for the civil sector.
