Levan Izoria, the Defense Minister has responded to the story aired by " Saturday Courier" , which was about the case of the 31-year-old soldier Sergo Jimsherashvili"s beating.

According to the attorneys of the accused military, the Defense Ministry knew about the fact but hid the information. The Military police have not started an investigation.

After the incident, the victim"s family has addressed the Chief Prosecutor"s Office.

A Defense Minister says in response to the accusations that the incident did not occur in the military unit, so the military police acted within its competence.

According to the minister, the military police was informed initially that Jashiashvili was injuries as a result of alcohol intoxication.

The attorneys of the detained military personnel say that the Military POlice and the Ministry of Defence were informed about the real circumstances from the beginning.

The beaten military is in unconscious condition for the second month.
