Azerbaijani journalist and human rights defender Avtandil Mamedov has been released on bail of 3,000 GEL.
Mamedov, who had been threatened with direct threats and political persecution from Baku, was detained in Marneuli a few days ago. The fate of Avtandil Mamedov depended on the Court"s decision, like in Afgan Mukhtarli`s case.
His lawyer is satisfied with the decision of the Court.
"We appreciate the courage of this decision to impose bail in the amount of 3 thousand GEL. However, taking into consideration the specific situation and the personality of Avtandil Mamedov, it would be sufficient to use personal surety. Because this man is not going to hide anywhere. This man had been persecuted in Azerbaijan due to his activities and political views and that is why he sought shelter in Georgia , "said the lawyer Archil Chopikashv
