Foreign investments in Georgia decreased by 35% in 2018 - Geostat


Foreign investments in Georgia decreased by 35 percent in 2018 compared to 2017. The National Statistics Office reports.T the agency cites three main factors as the reason. Among them is the completion of the construction of the main gas pipeline and the repayment of debt to foreign investors.

“The reasons for the decline compared to the previous year are known. This is first and foremost the completion of the construction of the main gas pipeline project. In addition, some large enterprises that were previously non-resident property were acquired by our residents and the third reason is a reduction in the amount of debts of some large companies, ”said Gogita Todradze, CEO of Geostat.
