India, in the last 24 hours, recorded 2,81,386 new Covid-19 cases, the Union Health Ministry update showed on Monday. With this, the total tally reached 24,965,463. The case count has fallen below the 3-lakh mark for the first time in 25 days.

However, 4,106 people succumbed to the disease in the said period, which pushed up the death toll to 274,390. The number of active cases have down to 3,516,997 from Sunday’s 3,618,458 — the biggest single-day drop ever.

Delhi on Monday recorded 4,524 fresh Covid cases, the lowest single-day spike since April 5. It also registered 340 deaths. The positivity rate has dipped to 8.42%.

The Andhra Pradesh government on Monday extended the ongoing curfew across the state till end of may to contain and combat the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Chief Minister’s Office stated.
