The WHO has approved the Indian vaccine for emergency use

The World Health Organization has authorized the immediate use of the Indian coronavirus vaccine “Covaxin”.

The WHO has found that the covaxine vaccine meets WHO standards for protection against COVID-19, and that the benefits of the vaccine far outweigh the risks.

The vaccine can be put to regular use, the WHO said.

The vaccine was developed by the Indian company Barat Bajotek in collaboration with the National Institute of Virology.
