School shooting at school on Pushkinskaya street in Izhevsk, Russia

A school shooting at school number 88 on Pushkinskaya street, Izhevsk, Russia was reported on Monday, September 26. According to preliminary reports, students and teachers evacuated, emergency services reportedly on their way to the site.

The attacker allegedly killed the security guard, walked on and began shooting at the children.

Two schoolchildren are known to have been injured. Some managed to hide in the classrooms.

The shooting started during the lessons, when an unidentified man in a black suit burst into the classroom and opened fire. The headmistress managed to hide with a wounded teenager in a classroom and locked herself inside.

In a statement on the Telegram messenger app, Governor Alexander Brechalov of the Udmurtia region, of which Izhevsk is the capital, said he had arrived at the city’s School No. 88, and that the security services and ambulance teams were present.
