People’s Power [PP] decided to leave the parliamentary majority and thereby start the existence of a healthy opposition in Georgia. The relevant statement made today the representative of the party, Guram Macharashvili.
“In Georgia there is practically no opposition, there is no healthy force that should play its role, which is called the role of the opposition, to argue with the government for the development of the country or to criticize it.
In Georgia today we have a government elected by the people, but unfortunately, we have the radical opposition financed by foreign forces. Based on this, we have decided to leave the parliamentary majority and thus lay the foundation for the existence of a healthy opposition in Georgia.
We will show the population in Georgia and beyond, which, unfortunately, they have forgotten, what a healthy opposition should be, the political force that is in the Parliament, is not in power, but should work for the interests of Georgia.
We have repeatedly said that we had no principled incompatibility with the Georgian Dream [GD]. It is about the fact that there are issues where, as we mentioned at the time, we had different opinions with the GD.
We also want to remind the public that 2.5 years ago, when we left the GD, there were many questions about how correct this decision was. It turned out that this decision worked, and very strongly.
Therefore, we promise the public once again that the PP will definitely create the political platform that we have talked about many times, which will be in a healthy opposition mode”, - said Guram Macharashvili.
