Today, the head of the non-governmental organization ISFED made an unsubstantiated claim that the reorganization in the Central Election Commission (CEC) was merely formal and did not adhere to the legal standards. Such a statement was released by the CEC.
“However, ISFED did not request any information from the CEC regarding the reorganization and, as a result, lacks comprehensive knowledge about the process. It appears that the organization, with its typical bias, based its statement solely on the statements of one party and did not deem it necessary to thoroughly examine all the circumstances related to the reorganization.
Unfortunately, the biased attitude of ISFED towards the election administration is not new. The public well remembers the erroneous publication of the results of the parallel count in 2020 and the failure to acknowledge this error promptly, which led to the polarization and radicalization of the process. In 2024, the results of a similar count were recognized but not published, which also raised several questions and contributed to the further radicalization of the process.
Still, even though the CEC has issued numerous statements explaining to employees and the public the basis for the ongoing reorganization of the agency, which was based on existing needs and challenges, interested parties continue to manipulate the issue. Claiming that employees were fired for supporting the country’s European integration efforts is disrespectful to every member of the administration. If such a reason were valid, there would not be a single employee left at any level of the election administration. The election administration is dedicated to advancing the country’s European integration and consistently maintains the highest professional standards.
We would like to clarify to the public once again that this is not the first instance of reorganization. The election administration regularly evaluates its activities, especially after each election cycle, in accordance with established practices. Based on this analysis and current needs, the CEC makes various decisions, including those regarding personnel.
The election administration firmly rejects these statements. We urge all interested parties to avoid misleading the public and refrain from damaging the reputation of the election administration for personal or political gain. Every decision made by the CEC will continue to be based solely on legal principles and the necessary requirements to conduct elections in the country according to democratic standards”, - reads the statement.
