The Special Penitentiary Service [SPS] responds to the reports by certain media outlets regarding the transfer of the hunger-striking journalist Mzia Amaglobeli to the Vivamedi clinic.

“We would like to clarify that this hospitalization for medical research related to her medical history took place with her full consent.

After being admitted to the clinic, Amaghlobeli further consented to the research and procedures recommended by the medical specialists of the SPS. She remains at the clinic for additional laboratory and instrumental studies.

The rights defender of the accused was informed about the need for his referral, ensuring that all necessary procedures were followed.

We call on individual political groups and media outlets to refrain from spreading deliberately false information that contradicts the cited facts”, - reads the statement of the SPS.
