A Georgian citizen who allegedly set fire to an office under the control tower of Rome’s Ciampino airport on Wednesday has been arrested by police.

The man, who had arrived in Italy a few years ago, does not have a criminal record, investigative sources said.

Air traffic was temporarily suspended at Ciampino airport as a consequence of the small fire and tower control personnel were evacuated, said Italian air traffic management authority ENAV.
