Kazakhstan is firmly committed to expanding regional connectivity and systematically improving the necessary infrastructure and conditions, we recognize Georgia’s significant role in this process - Olzhas Bektenov

Olzhas Bektenov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan congratulated Irakli Kobakhidze on his reappointment as Prime Minister of Georgia at the face-to-face meeting in Astana.

He also emphasized that the visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia to Kazakhstan opens new perspectives for bilateral cooperation.

“Our countries share many common interests. We appreciate your personal efforts in strengthening the Kazakhstan-Georgia partnership. Over the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Kazakhstan and Georgia have become not only friendly states but also reliable political and economic partners. Georgia is one of Kazakhstan’s key economic partners. In this regard, positive trends in investment are particularly noteworthy. Kazakh entrepreneurs have invested approximately 620 million USD in Georgia’s economy. Our firm commitment is to further strengthen our investment partnership and improve conditions for businesses. Trade between our countries remains a priority. We believe there is significant potential for further diversification of our trade relations. Transit and transportation are among the most crucial areas of our cooperation.

Both Kazakhstan and Georgia serve as vital links in transcontinental transport corridors, offering efficient routes connecting Europe with China and Southeast Asia. It is gratifying that our countries are actively cooperating on the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Over the past year, cargo transportation along this corridor has increased by 62%, reaching 4.5 million tons. This represents almost a fivefold growth compared to 2021 and reflects the growing trust in the supply and demand for this route. Kazakhstan is firmly committed to expanding regional connectivity and systematically improving the necessary infrastructure and conditions. We recognize Georgia"s significant role in this process and take into account its strategic transit and transport potential within the framework of our shared development plans”, - said Olzhas Bektenov.
