Prime Ministers of Georgia and Kazakhstan visit the Kazakhstan Railways JSC

Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia together with Olzhas Bektenov, Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan visited the office of Kazakhstan Railways JSC.

The Prime Ministers of both countries were hosted by Nurlan Sauranbayev, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan Railways JSC.

Irakli Kobakhidze toured the Kazakhstan Railways office and attended a presentation by the company.

In 2024, railway freight turnover between Georgia and Kazakhstan reached a record-high of 2.74 million tons.

Additionally, the 2 countries have signed a Roadmap for the Development of the Middle Corridor, which outlines specific measures to be implemented by 2027 in areas such as transport infrastructure improvement, process optimization, corridor digitalization and the establishment of an attractive tariff policy.

Based on an agreement signed between the railways of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia, active efforts are underway to strengthen Georgia"s transit corridor and increase container freight volumes along the Middle Corridor.

The Kazakhstan Railways is a joint-stock company, one of the largest employers in the Republic of Kazakhstan, with over 120 000 employees. The company owns 46 800 freight wagons, 1700 locomotives and 2300 passenger wagons.
