Chairman of the Parliament`s Committee on European Integration said a parliamentary investigative commission into actions of the previous United National Movement Government would provide a "clear answer to all questions" for the public about the former ruling party and its high-ranking officials between 2003 and 2012.
According to Levan Makhashvili, the mentioned commission would “primarily conduct a political assessment” of the period in question.
"We have repeatedly stated that many questions remain regarding the period between 2003 and 2012 in Georgia’s history, particularly concerning the previous regime and the crimes committed by high-ranking officials.
Therefore, in line with our pre-election promises, we are creating an investigative commission that will, first and foremost, politically evaluate this process. Secondly, it will examine crimes linked to high-ranking officials. Through this, we aim to close this chapter of history once and for all and provide clear answers to all the questions the public has", - added the MP.
