The Chairman of the Parliament’s Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules emphasized today the necessity of adopting a legislative framework similar to that of the US, aimed at ensuring transparency in foreign influence.
His comments came in response to the Georgian Dream’s decision to introduce a legislative proposal similar to the US Foreign Agents Registration Act [FARA].
As David Matikashvili said, the proposed legislation would help protect the country from negative external influences and ensure greater transparency in political and financial activities.
“This is the legislative space that has allowed the entire world to see who is seeking to spend huge amounts of money to gain specific influence in the United States. We demand exactly the same in Georgia. We demand that the country be protected from negative influences and be transparent”, - added the MP.
