The Foreign Relations Committee endorsed the ratification of the international agreement.

The Administrative Agreement on Protection of Classified Information Exchange between Georgia and NATO shall apply to the classified information exchanged between the parties (for limited use, secret and top secret). The document encompasses the issues, such as compliance of the classification levels and marking, criteria for access to NATO classified information, deposition and protection security standards for classified information, register system, communication and information system security, and the visits.

The Committee discussed the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications, introduced by Genadi Arveladze, the Deputy Economic Minister. According to him, by accessing the Act, Georgia acquires the leverage to protect the registered appellations of origin and the geographical indications. The protection shall apply to all the countries that are signatories to the Geneva Act.

“At that, providing the illegal occupation of the Georgian regions - Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region - by Russia, although, the Geneva Act will apply to the occupied territories, however, without a real mechanism for its enforcement. Hence, it is expedient to make a declaration regarding this fact”, - he stated.

The Loan Agreement between Georgia and ADB (ordinary transactions) (modern skills for better jobs - subprogram 2) envisages the allocation of the loan of 68,198,000 GEL. The subprogram aims to support the vocational education and teaching sector, covering: vocational education quality and compliance in priority economic sectors; access to vocational education and inclusiveness; enhancement of institutional framework in vocational education through the engagement of individuals. The loan is allocated with a term of 15 years, where three years are preferential.

The Committee also discussed the Loan Agreement between Georgia and IBRD of June 18, 20219, (innovation, inclusiveness and quality project - Georgia 12Q), Change N2. The Change adjusts the loan refund date from March 31, 2026, to March 31, 2027. The document aims at the extension of access to pre-school education and improvement of education and teaching sector.
