
Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia met David Asatiani, Chairman of the Georgian Bar Association.
The Chairman of the Bar Association spoke with the Head of Government about the Convention on the Protection of the Legal Profession adopted by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, along with the importance of its ratification in Georgia. According to him, the Convention of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe is the first and historic document at the European level aimed at strengthening lawyers" rights and ensuring their professional freedom.
During the meeting, it was noted that the highest standard of protection for lawyers" rights is already guaranteed by the legislation of Georgia. This is also evidenced by the fact that, as a result of the work of the State Constitutional Commission led by Irakli Kobakhidze, guarantees of lawyers" independence, professional freedom and inviolability were elevated to the constitutional level.
The Chairman of the Bar Association expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister of Georgia for considering the opinions and proposals of lawyers during the work of the Constitutional Commission.
