The topic of political assessments in Tbilisi is the statement of the organization “Transparency International” [TI], which expresses concern over the newly adopted laws in Georgia.
The international organization states that the recent amendments, including the Law on Grants, which requires NGOs to obtain government approval for foreign funding, are a new target for civil society and violate the principles of democracy.
“I do not think that TI in Germany has the same problems and obstacles - I say this ironically - that they have in Georgia. Because the declared course of the Government in Georgia is to fight against all non-governmental organizations. Talking and comparing with Germany is simply inadequate”, - said Irakli Pavlenishvili, Deputy Secretary General of the “Unity - National Movement”.
