
Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili will travel to the Vatican to attend the funeral ceremony of Pope Francis on Saturday, April 26.
“The Georgian delegation will include Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili, Head of the Presidential Administration Ketevan Kvinikadze, Head of the Zugdidi and Tsaishi Dioceses, Chairman of the External Relations Department of the Georgian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Gerasime, Protopresbyter Giorgi Zviadadze, Rector of the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary and Deputy Head of the Sioni Cathedral”, - reads the statement of presidential administration.
The funeral for Pope Francis is set to begin at 10 a.m. local time [4 a.m. ET] on Saturday, 6 days after his passing. Political and religious leaders, royalty, and celebrities from around the globe have confirmed their attendance at the service in the Vatican. Pope Francis died on Easter Monday at the age of 88 at his residence in the Vatican’s Casa Santa Marta.
