Despite pressure from certain European officials, Georgia`s national interests will not be compromised. Such a statement made today the Mayor of Tbilisi, while responding to the European Parliament`s resolution on Georgia.
“The responsibility lies with a handful of corrupt European bureaucrats who are trying to blackmail both the Georgian people and the state. We will not allow it. Whether it`s about European integration or personal matters, Georgia`s interests will not be sacrificed.
We`ve seen similar attempts before - from the issue of candidate status to negotiations and now visa liberalization and the Association Agreement. If anyone objectively assesses our progress on European integration, it’s clear that Georgia is ahead of several countries that received candidate status earlier. But the attitude towards Georgia is different.
European bureaucrats, in alliance with radical groups, have once again been defeated [in the elections] - and that’s what truly concerns them", - said Kakha Kaladze.
