
The "Alliance of Democracies" has released its 2025 Democracy Perception Index. This year`s report highlights Georgia as a standout performer in several key areas, especially Government transparency.
"Georgia ranks 1st in Europe for government transparency. It is also the only European country assessed as being in the "green zone" - meaning public perception of Government transparency is predominantly positive.
In terms of overall democracy perception, the leading countries in Europe are Norway, Denmark, and Sweden. Conversely, Ukraine, France, and Serbia received the most negative ratings across the continent.
Significantly, Georgia outperforms more than 10 EU and NATO member states in its overall democracy perception score, including the UK, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece.
Georgia also ranks among the top-5 countries worldwide where democracy is considered most important by the public. On matters of national security, Georgia is ranked 2nd globally, behind only Ukraine, in terms of public perception of foreign threats. Furthermore, among all European countries, Georgians show the strongest willingness to defend their sovereignty and independence from foreign interference.
