Berlin hosts UN Peacekeeping Ministerial. Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany Dr. Johann Wadephul, Minister of Defence of Germany Boris Pistorius and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres delivered opening remarks to the attendees of the Ministerial.

Vice-Prime Minister, Defense Minister of Georgia participates in the high-level political forum under the official invitation of German counterpart Boris Pistorius. Irakli Chikovani delivered a speech at the panel discussion high-level session 2 - Peacekeeping Reform: More Effective and Safer Peacekeeping. Minister highlighted the importance of UN peacekeeping missions, new initiatives, challenges and the ways of their solution. As he outlined, Georgia, as a responsible global actor, has actively contributed to peacekeeping efforts over the years not only through UN mission, but also missions led by NATO and EU.

UN Peacekeeping Ministerial aims to discuss the future of peacekeeping and for member states to express and demonstrate their political support. Ministers of Defense and For3eign Affairs from 112 states, as well as high-level political officials of UN, EU, NATO, OSCE and Red Cross participate in UN Peacekeeping Ministerial in Berlin. UN Peacekeeping Ministerial was first held in 2016. Following that it is held once in every two years.
