Banning political opposition is not the European way, what is a European way is a dialogue. Such a statement made today the European Union Ambassador to Georgia.

“We are monitoring very closely what is happening in Georgia. As I have said, the EU is based on very clear principles. One of those principles is democracy. Democracy means a multi-party system. A multi-party system means a possibility for citizens to build political parties, to run in elections, and to be represented in the parliament.

Banning political opposition is not the European way. What is a European way is a dialogue, even if there are differences. What is expected is that there is a dialogue, people make concessions, they build a common position based on understanding, on tolerance, based on moving forward towards the EU. Unfortunately, this is not what is happening in Georgia”, - said Paweł Herczyński.
