Kremlin Spokesman has confirmed that preparations are underway for a phone conversation between the Russian and US leaders.

"The conversation is in the works", - Dmitry Peskov said, commenting on remarks by US President who had announced his intention to hold a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 19.

Earlier, Donald Trump wrote on the Truth Social network that he had a phone conversation with Putin on May 19. The US president said that he intended to discuss the Ukrainian settlement and trade. As Trump added, following the conversation with a Russian leader, he will speak with Vladimir Zelensky and NATO leaders: “Hopefully it will be a productive day, a ceasefire will take place, and this very violent war, a war that should have never happened, will end".

The most recent phone conversation between two presidents was held on March 18.
