Within the framework of his visit to New York, Givi Mikanadze, the Chair of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee, held a meeting with the Assistant Secretary-General for Policy Coordination in the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Bjørg Sandkjær.

The meeting was convened to discuss the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Mikanadze presented information on the initiatives undertaken by the Georgian Government in this regard. Sandkjær provided a highly positive evaluation of the reforms implemented in Georgia, expressing his anticipation for enhanced cooperation between the Georgian Government and the United Nations (UN) structures.

The significance of the public service forum scheduled to be held in Georgia in 2026 was underscored.

Georgia`s active role in the development of good governance, information technology, and innovations was highlighted. The parties emphasised Georgia`s positive contribution to the mediation of the peacekeeping process in the South Caucasus. The sides agreed on the active communication and regular exchange of information.

The meeting was attended by the Resident Representative of Georgia to the UN and international organizations, David Bakradze.
