The EU Embassy is the largest funder of the GYLA and Social Justice Centre, writes the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament on his Facebook page.

“Calling the parliament elected by the people ‘illegitimate,’ along with disinformation, is a rejection of democratic institutions. The purpose of not recognising democracy is to create an ideological base and apparent legitimacy for extremism.

The European Union Embassy is the largest funder of the NGOs, the Young Lawyers’ Association of Georgia and the Social Justice Centre.

The Embassy should clarify whether it intends to respond to the spending of EU citizens’ money on promoting extremism.

It is alarming that the EU Embassy has never once (!) condemned the violence, hatred, and disinformation coming from the individuals it funds.

Responsible donorship is not a choice, but an international legal obligation strengthened by the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness. Its violation is a violation of the rules-based international order”, - writes Shalva Papuashvili.
