I encourage Georgia to share its experience, especially with countries still in the accession process, so they can see the tangible benefits for their economies and people. Such a statement Maika Oshikawa, Head of the WTO Accession Division, made at the a ceremony in Geneva marking the 25th anniversary of the country’s accession to the World Trade Organization
“What Georgia has accomplished over the past 25 years is a clear example of how a country can leverage WTO membership to modernize its economy. We began our cooperation with Georgia through its accession process, and today is a significant milestone not only for Georgia but for the WTO as well. We are very proud of Georgia’s achievements in economic development, diversification, and its emergence as a regional economic hub.
It’s hard to find another country that exemplifies the benefits of WTO membership as well as Georgia does. I encourage Georgia to share its experience - especially with countries still in the accession process - so they can see the tangible benefits for their economies and people”, - said Maika Oshikawa.
