There is no anti-American Government in Georgia, our Government is committed to equal and fair relations with all partner countries and organizations. Such a statement Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs, Archil Gorduladze, made while responding to the comments of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in the House of Representatives.
“Let’s be clear - Georgia does not have an anti-American government. On the contrary, our Government is eager to build equal and respectful partnerships with all allied countries and institutions. The question posed by Congressman Joe Wilson was provocative.
Any diplomat in that situation would have been compelled to respond as Secretary Rubio did - with a general statement. However, it’s important to assess whether such a government exists in Georgia. The answer is no.
Georgia has a pro-Western Government that values democratic principles founded on dignity, our history, and our national sovereignty.
This was the essence of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s open letter and the statements by other members of our team. We are focused on taking strategic partnerships to the next level through structured and transparent dialogue.
We remain open to all forms of cooperation and are committed to building strong partnerships. We demonstrate this both behind closed doors and publicly. If reciprocal steps are taken, that would be another step forward in improving bilateral relations - relations that were seriously damaged by the former [Joe Biden] administration managed by the deep state”, - said Archil Gorduladze.
