
Georgian embassies have organized Independence Day celebrations in more than 50 cities around the world. An event dedicated to Independence Day and the 25th anniversary of Georgia’s accession to the World Trade Organization was held in Geneva. The Rustavi ensemble and a string quartet performed.
An exhibition was opened at the University of Zagreb, featuring photographs depicting Georgian culture, language, history and architecture.
Ceremonies were also held in Stockholm. The statue of Christ the Redeemer was illuminated in the colors of the Georgian flag in Rio de Janeiro.
"It is emotional and proud to celebrate Georgia`s Independence Day in Geneva, which is the center of multilateral diplomacy. I am very glad that Georgia is an extremely interesting, very important country for the international community", - said Revaz Lominadze, Permanent Representative of Georgia to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva.
The event was attended by the Minister of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Protection, Mikheil Sarjveladze: "It was a very uplifting and emotionally charged evening. First of all, of course, considering that we are celebrating Georgia`s Independence Day, which is always, of course, a special day for all Georgians and at the same time, when you have the opportunity to introduce the culture of your country in the best possible way to all your foreign partners and friends".
