A 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Simav district in the western province of Kütahya on Tuesday afternoon, according to a statement from the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency [AFAD], writes ilkha.com.

The quake occurred at 13:15 local time [TSI] and had a depth of 7.71 kilometers. Its epicenter was recorded at 39.23528° N latitude and 28.96778° E longitude.

There have been no immediate reports of casualties or structural damage, but local authorities and emergency services remain on high alert and are closely monitoring the area for any potential aftershocks or emerging threats.

Simav, a region historically prone to seismic activity, experienced a significant earthquake in 2011, prompting ongoing preparedness efforts in the area. Today`s tremor serves as a reminder of the region`s seismic sensitivity.

AFAD has urged residents to remain calm but vigilant and to follow any advisories issued by local emergency management teams.
