Promotion of peace and stability in the South Caucasus region - with particular emphasis on the growing geopolitical significance of the Middle Corridor - had been discussed during his meeting with Numan Kurtulmuş, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Such a statement made today the Chaieman of the Georgian Parliament.
“Friendship between Georgia and Turkey is based on strong neighborly relations, which had evolved into a solid, multifaceted strategic partnership. In today’s turbulent reality, relationship between the 2 countries, founded on mutual respect and trust and growing stronger year by year – is especially valuable.
At today’s meeting, we discussed a number of important issues, including the deepening of parliamentary ties, as well as cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, and education. We emphasized our shared vision for promoting peace and stability in the [South] Caucasus region, with particular focus on the growing geopolitical significance of the Middle Corridor.
The Middle Corridor is a symbol of our shared future - strengthening economic links between Europe and Asia, ensuring regional cooperation, energy security, digital connectivity, and sustainable development. We consider Turkey a key partner in fully realizing the potential of this route.
Once again, I reaffirm my full readiness to strengthen inter-parliamentary dialogue, which will positively impact our bilateral relations. Friendship groups operating in both legislative bodies will also continue active cooperation”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.
