Parliamentary Delegation participates in the 65th PABSEC General Assembly

The Parliamentary Delegation, composed of Irakli Mezurnishvili, the Head of the Delegation, and Nino Tsilosani, Vice-Speaker, participates in the 65th PABSEC General Assembly in Baku.

The Speaker of the Milli Meclis of Azerbaijan, Mme. Sahiba Gafarova; the newly elected Speaker of the National Assembly of Bulgaria, Mme. Nataliya Kiselova; and the President of the Assembly of North Macedonia, Mr. Afrim Gashi, delivered the welcome addresses.

The central topic at the General Assembly is "Strengthening Connectivity in the PABSEC Region and Enhancing Mobility through Development of Smart and Sustainable Transport Infrastructure".

The Head of the Delegation, Irakli Mezurnishvili, participated in the general debates.

"Our region, as the natural crossroad between Europe and Asia, possesses a unique perspective for the enhancement of trade, technological advancement, and sustainable development. The genuine improvement of mobility within the Black Sea region necessitates the adoption of initiatives that prioritise sustainability and foster enhanced cooperation.

Georgia, as one of the founding members of the BSEC and the Parliamentary Assembly, remains steadfast in its support for the success of this organisation. We are confident in its ability to facilitate close cooperation between our nations and establish a shared vision for the future.

We are committed to supporting all significant initiatives that strengthen regional ties and facilitate the enduring development of the Black Sea region", - he declared.

The delegates deliberated on and adopted the reports and recommendations on: International Cooperation in the Fight against Organized Crime in the BSEC Region; and Current Strategies and Practices for Advancing Education and Employment for People with Disabilities in the BSEC Region.

At the end of the session, the PABSEC presidency was officially assumed by Bulgaria. The next 66th General Assembly will be hosted by the National Assembly of Bulgaria in November 2025.
