Mariam Kvrivishvili meets with the CEO and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the French state-own corporation ADP Group

Deepening cooperation and future investment opportunities were discussed on Friday in a meeting between Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy, and Philippe Pascal, General Director/Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ADP Group [French state-owned corporation that owns and operates Paris Charles de Gaulle, Orly, and Le Bourget airports].

The parties discussed cooperation between Georgia and the ADP Group. It was noted that TAV Airports has made significant investments in Tbilisi and Batumi airports, which have contributed positively to the development of Georgia`s civil aviation sector.

"In recent years, tourism and civil aviation in Georgia have experienced significant growth - in 2024, compared to the same period in the previous year, passenger traffic increased by 24%, surpassing a record 7.4 million passengers. This trend has continued into 2025. During the January-April period, more than 2 million passengers were served at the 3 international airports.

Over 60 passenger airlines currently operate in Georgia’s airports on approximately 100 air routes - a record-high number that continues to grow.

Given these record figures in the aviation sector, the agenda now includes increasing the capacity and upgrading the aviation infrastructure of Tbilisi and Kutaisi international airports. In Kutaisi, the 3.5-kilometer runway will be renewed, while in Tbilisi, a completely new airport is planned. The Vaziani Airport will be able to serve up to 19 million passengers annually and will function as a regional aviation hub", - said Mariam Kvrivishvili.

She also underlined the importance of ensuring that the existing Tbilisi airport continues to serve passengers smoothly despite the growing traffic until the new airport in Vaziani is operational: "Accordingly, our team is working to identify the best multi-year development strategies for the current airport".

"The ADP Group and Georgia share a long-standing cooperation through our company, TAV Airports, which has led to significant and large-scale results.

These achievements are clearly reflected in the successful development of the Tbilisi and Batumi airports. I want to stress that Georgia is a country of great importance to us. We discussed future perspectives for the development of airports in Georgia, future plans, and the fruitful cooperation that has connected us over the years. We hope to further develop this partnership in the future.

We are proud and pleased to be celebrating the 20th anniversary of operating Tbilisi and Batumi airports. We are ready to make substantial investments in the current Tbilisi airport before the new airport in Vaziani becomes operational. The goal is to double the existing capacity and ensure that the airport operates reliably and sustainably with improved infrastructure and upgraded services, effectively handling the increased passenger flow", - added Serkan Kaptan, President of TAV Airports, who also attended the meeting.

Negotiations ended with a reaffirmation that both parties will continue to work together to ensure the smooth operation of Tbilisi and Batumi airports. ADP also operates 26 international airports worldwide and is one of the largest aviation holdings globally. TAV Airports [currently manages Tbilisi and Batumi international airports], is part of the ADP Group.
