Kutaisi remains a parliamentary city - Irakli Kobakhidze

Kutaisi remains a parliamentary city - said the Chairman of the Parliament in Kutaisi, after launching public discussion on the Constitutional Amendments. The Organizational Commission holds the first sitting at this moment in Kutaisi.

Irakli  Kobakhidze heads the commission. The project on the constitutional amendments envisages amendment of the election system and the change of the rule of presidential elections. The chapter , which defines the location of the parliament is removed from the text.

Members of European Union take part in the public discussions as well. They have discussed the issues , which they consider as problematic .

The main issue is related to the electoral system , distribution of mandates and the rule of presidential elections. Leaders of the European Georgia say that the president should be elected directly and not all undistributed mandates should go to the ruling party.


The ruling party focuses on the electoral system balanced by the ruling team.
Members of the NGO are attending thepublic discussion as well. The main demand of the civil sector is the direct election of the president.
