The criticism of the President by the Chairperson of the Legal Issues Committee was followed by many responses today, including theo ne from the President.

"The motive of my statement is the comments of the President of Georgia and members of his Administration. When Giorgi Margvelashvili speaks about the constitutional amendments, he tries to portray as if he had been deprived of powers, as if the decision on indirect elections was made due to his personality and as if he would necessarily win direct elections”, said Beselia.

According to her, she is sure Giorgi Margvelashvili cannot gain victory if direct elections are held.

“I think nobody doubts that the Georgian Dream candidate would win direct elections”, she said.

Beselia tried to explain that the amendment is not connected to the Georgian Dream"s rivalry with Giorgi Margvelashvili. Giorgi Margvelashvili can not understand what is the basis of the statements mady by the majority members.

Unlike the majority, the opposition think that the basis for the cancellation of the presidential direct election is a confrontation between Margvelashvili and the Georgian Dream.
