The second day of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Tbilisi. Yesterday evening a joint sitting of the NATO-Georgia Inter-Parliamentary Council and Standing Committee was held.
Irakli Sesiashvili, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Defense and Security, said before the meeting that the committee`s agenda included the issues that are important for Georgia`s NATO membership.
"We openly discuss the prospects of Georgia`s membership in NATO and the possibilities of how NATO members can support Georgia," - Sesiashvili said.
Georgia hosts the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Spring Session. Within four days, within the framework of the session Georgian defense priorities, strategies for the occupied territories, Georgia"s foreign and security priorities, Russian military modernization and the Black Sea region, Afghanistan and Syria will be discussed.
On the last day of the session, the Assembly members will be addressed by the President, Prime Minister, Speaker of the Parliament and Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Roose Gothen - Müller.
Finally, NATO Parliamentary Assembly members will receive a declaration of support for Georgia"s Euro-Atlantic integration.
