GYLA Report and Justice Problems - Assessments of NATO Delegates and Georgian Politicians

The head of the Georgian Young Lawyers` Association has recently presented a report at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Spring Sessions in Tbilisi. Ana Natsvlishvili slammed the court system and the prosecutor`s office during her speech. She also spoke about the gaps in the constitutional amendments package.

"I talked about the systematic problems that exist and remain in the justice system, including the fact that the part of these problems is unfortunately not provided for in the new draft constitution," - said Ana Natsvlishvili.

Estonian delegation MP Oudha Kilon compared the ongoing processes in Georgia to the difficult and significant periods in Estonia and highlighted the importance of the changes in the judiciary system.

The parliamentary minority thinks that foreign partners know about the problems presented by GYLA. The deputy speaker of the parliament, of Movement for Freedom- European Georgia Faction, Sergi Kapanadze stated that the opposition always spoke about the problems in the court system, media and constitutional amendments.

During the speech of Ana Natsvlishvili, representative of the parliamentary majority, Sopo Katsarava, the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, responded.

"The very strong will of the government is the reform of the judiciary and we see quite a great progress in this direction and international ratings prove it," - Sopho Katsarava said.

NATO"s spring session in Tbilisi will be closed tomorrow.
