"Seventeen judges unanimously confirmed that Vano Merabishvili"s detention and pretrial detention are legitimate," the Minister of Justice responds to the decision of the Grand Chamber of the European Court, which left in force the decision on a violation of the article 18 of the European Convention on Merabishvili"s case.

According to Tea Tsulukiani, the votes of 17 judges of the Grand Chamber of Strasbourg Court were divided.

"9 votes vs 8 votes it is decided that the Article 18 concerning the fact of Vano Merabishvili"s withdrawal from the cell has been violated," Tea Tsulukiani said.

The European Court of Human Rights has declared a decision on the case of Vano Merabishvili. The Judicial Chamber left the 2016 Decision on which the Georgian Government violated Article 18 of the Human Rights Convention against Merabishvili in force.
