A trial of the Azeri journalist, kidnapped from Georgia has just finished in Azerbaijan. He is accused of the illegal crossing of the border, smuggling and resisting border guards.

"This is not a process, it"s a comedy," Azerbaijan journalist Afgan Mukhtarli said at a court hearing.

A lawyer of the journalist raised nine petitions, However only one was satisfied and he was allowed to sit next to his lawyer. The rest eight petitions have not been met.

The trial has been attended by civil activists and friends of Afgan Mukhtarli.

"This is an absurd case. This man has been kidnapped from Tbilisi and brought to Azerbaijan, "said Hajida Ismailova, the journalist.

A representative of the Human Rights House has attended the trial. Rusudan Mchedlishvili has arrived to Azerbaijan in order to attend the trial.
