"It is ruled out under our government that somebody will use own business as a weapon to blackmail the government,"- Kvirikashvili about media

"It is ruled out under our government that somebody will use own business as a weapon to blackmail the government," - said Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili at a government meeting regarding pressure on media .

He said that allegations that the government is putting pressing on any broadcaster is absurd.

“I would like to respond to the very unhealthy rumors about the so-called pressure on media outlets. Such allegations are absolutely absurd under the current government. This is excluded under our authority. At the same time, nobody will be able to use own business as a tool for blackmailing the government and we are convinced that we are dealing with such fact. Last night was dedicated solely to this topic. I reiterate that it is beyond the bounds of possibility. The Government, which has ensured that new TV stations can register and commence broadcasters in a matter of days, cannot accept these accusations. No one can compromise the achievement called media freedom under our government. I say with full responsibility that things like this cannot be possibly happening,” .- said Kvirikashvili.

Levan Gogichaishvili, a member of the majority spoke about the blackmailing of the government and warned the TV company Iberia that the blackmail of the country is punishable.
