"The blackmailing of the government is absolutely unacceptable" - Minister of Education speaks about "Iberia"

The Minister of Education and Science responds to accusations of pressure from the government on TV company "Iberia" and media in general .

As Mikheil Chkhenkeli said after the government meeting, the state does not interfere
into the activity of any media outlet and all media outlets are free. Chkhenkeli agreed with the Prime Minister"s statement and noted that the blackmail of the government is unacceptable.

"I absolutely agree with the Prime Minister"s statement that the blackmailing of the government is absolutely unacceptable, especially from the organization that the Prime Minister has mentioned, no blackmail should ever exist," Chkhenkeli said.

Journalists of the TV Company "Iberia" made a special statement yesterday and accused the authorities of attempting to change the editorial policy by blocking financial sources for independent TV channels.

In response to the allegations of "Iberia" journalists, the Prime Minister made a statement at the government session. A member of the parliamentary majority also answered the allegations of pressure on media.

The Prime Minister and the "Georgian Dream" MP see the attempt of blackmail in the statement of the channel.
