The liturgy celebrating the 42nd anniversary of the enthronement of Ilia II, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, is ongoing in Svetitskhoveli Cathedral.

The Catholicos-Patriarch holds the liturgy with the clergy.

Bidzina Ivanishvili, the leader of the Georgian Dream, is attending the liturgy. Giorgi Gakharia, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Archil Talakvadze, the Chairperson of Parliament, and Mamuka Mdinaradze, the leader of parliamentary majority are also in the Cathedral.

Ilia II was enthroned 42 years ago. He was elected patriarch of Georgia at the age of 44, in 1977. The enthronement of Ilia II took place on 25th December of the same year.
