"The government is afraid of Rustavi 2" - opposition

The parliamentary and non-parliamentary opposition responded to refusal received by Rustavi-2 from the local governments to hold concerts in Kutaisi, Poti and Batumi. They believe that the government is afraid of Rustavi 2 and does everything not to give the broadcaster any chance to hold concerts.

"Such a decision could not have been taken at the local level. This proves the Government`s weakness. It does not look serious ," - said
Free Democrats MP Zurab Abashidze.

"Prime Minister ia afraid, the mayors have received instructions . They are confronting Rustavi 2," - stated the United National Movement MP, Mikheil Machavariani.

National Democratic Party believes that after the concert that was held in Gori the government has started a campaign against the independent media.

"This is a targeted campaign, it is a directive. The concert in Gori has created some discomfort, for somebody; it is unacceptable," - said Bachuki Kardava

The New Rights even suggest that the government is openly confronting media outlets.

"Would someone saying no to Bera"s concert? Who believes that the decision was taken by the local government ," - said Pikria Chikhradze.

The Labour party says that such decisions are taken by Bidzina Ivanishvili.
