During the official visit to Brazil, Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili, met with Brazil’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira.

Mauro Vieira expressed appreciation for Minister Darchiashvili’s visit to Brazil, highlighting its significance amidst global developments and the crucial regional roles of both countries.

Minister Darchiashvili stressed the importance of the partnership with Brazil for Georgia, citing benefits in bilateral and regional contexts.

Both ministers acknowledged the robust political dialogue between their foreign ministries and explored opportunities for collaboration across various sectors, with a particular focus on trade and economics. They discussed Georgia"s interest in fostering ties with Brazil as a leading global economy, aiming to showcase Georgia’s economic potential fully. The discussion also touched upon Georgia’s transit role bridging Europe and Asia, as well as the positive economic trends within Georgia.

Emphasis was placed on enhancing regular interactions between business communities and facilitating trade mission exchanges.

The ministers also discussed Georgia"s aspiration for EU membership and focused on security challenges in Europe and globally. Brazil reiterated its staunch support for Georgia"s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Furthermore, the meeting highlighted Georgia’s active engagement with Latin American and Caribbean nations, including its participation in various regional forums in South America. Georgia’s role in the consolidation of Portuguese-speaking countries, where it holds an associate observer status, was also underscored.
